Changes to Red Diesel Entitlement

As part of the governments commitment to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050, it was announced in the 2020 budget that the Red Diesel subsidy will be removed for most sectors with very few exceptions.

Users of Red Diesel will now have to switch to Road Diesel or HVO.

  • Agriculture
  • Rail
  • Non-commercial heating
  • Marine
  • Travelling fairground & Circus
  • Non-commercial power generation
  • Amateur sports clubs and golf courses

INDUSTRIES THAT WILL NOT BE ABLE TO USE RED DIESEL

  • Construction & Road Maintenance
  • Logistics & Haulage
  • Mining & Quarry
  • Oil & Gas Extraction
  • Waste Management
  • Commercial Heating
  • Leisure
  • Airport Operations & Ports
  • Manufacturing
